Some diploma-wielding grads may take a step back and take a path less traveled while others transition to a college campus. Isaiah S. took this idea and ran with it.
“Going to college wasn’t even an option at this point,” Isaiah says. “I can’t imagine working four years through college, being in loads of debt and not having income during that time.”
He knew he loved working with his hands, helping people solve their problems, and meeting a variety of folks in the community. After searching for opportunities that could apply to these aspirations, he landed on an opportunity at Absolute Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air to cultivate as an Electrical Helper.
Knocking at Opportunities Door
Without any trade experience or electrical experience, he was able to get his foot in the door through his passion and work ethic. Within the year, Isaiah would be moving up as an Electrical Technician and making between

$75,000 and $150,000.
“I never enjoyed sitting at a desk in school,” Isaiah said. “I love helping build the community’s dream homes like lighting and heating a beautiful outdoor patio or support a passionate artist and light their studio.”
Isaiah spent the last 12 months at Absolute taking electrician education courses and personal development classes that Absolute provides to all its Electrical Helpers and Apprentices. Absolute believes in providing value to its employees through education, inclusive culture and striving to be the best service company it can offer Colorado.
Moving Up the Ropes
Isaiah was ready to tackle his Colorado Residential Wireman exam after spending months studying and attending education courses from Absolute. He also studied electrician test resources like those from Mike Holt and collaborated with fellow accomplished Journeyman and Master Electricians at Absolute. He woke up at 4:30 a.m. to have time to clear his head and prepared for the 8:00 a.m. exam. He passed with flying colors and is excited about his future at Absolute.
As a Residential Wireman, Isaiah will be offered a van on the team and will serve the Colorado community on his own. “Being an electrician is applicable to any situation in time,” Isaiah says. “Even if there is a recession or a blip in the economy, I know I will still be in demand.”
Long Term Goals
“The team at Absolute Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air was incredibly supportive of my aspirations and goals of furthering my skills,” Isaiah said. He has since continued his education with weekly classes off-site and two weekly on-site training sessions from the Service Manager at Absolute.
Now Isaiah has his sights set on achieving his long-term goal since graduating from high school. He desires to become a homeowner in Colorado before the age of 20. Through his electrical career, he now understands many of the aspects of what it takes to maintain a home and the responsibility.
Isaiah feels committed to his future and taking his career further at Absolute Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air as his role becomes more secure through continued education and his Residential Wireman License.
