What We Cover in a Tune-Up
A proper maintenance visit covers the whole system, not just a visual inspection:
- Refrigerant level and leak check
- Coil cleaning, indoor and outdoor
- Electrical connections checked and tightened
- Capacitors and contactor inspection
- Thermostat calibration
- Condensate drain line cleared
- Blower and motor inspection
- Full system performance test with readings recorded
If something is borderline or about to fail, we’ll flag it before it becomes an emergency. You get to decide how to handle it.
When to Schedule
Spring is the right time. Get it done before the heat arrives and before everyone else is trying to book the same week. Once June and July hit, service schedules fill up fast and lead times stretch.
If you didn’t get a tune-up last spring, it’s still worth scheduling now. A mid-season check is better than no check.
Why Maintenance Saves You Money
A dirty coil means the system works harder to move the same amount of cooling. That shows up on your energy bill. A failing capacitor that gets caught early costs a fraction of what it costs after it takes out the compressor. Most of what we catch during tune-ups are small issues that haven’t caused a breakdown yet but will.
Maintenance Plans
If you’d rather not have to think about scheduling, ask about our service agreements. Members get priority scheduling during peak season and a documented maintenance history for their equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between a tune-up and a full inspection?
A tune-up goes further than a visual inspection — it’s hands-on maintenance, not just a look-around. Our tune-up covers everything from checking refrigerant levels and testing for leaks, to cleaning both the indoor and outdoor coils, tightening electrical connections, and inspecting capacitors and the contactor. We also calibrate your thermostat, clear the condensate drain line, and inspect the blower and motor. At the end, we run a full system performance test and record the readings so you have a real picture of where your system stands.
A basic inspection tells you what’s there. A tune-up tells you how it’s performing — and leaves it running better than when we arrived.
My system is only 3 years old. Do I still need maintenance?
Yes. Newer systems still accumulate dust on coils, need refrigerant checks, and benefit from annual performance testing. Some manufacturer warranties also require documented maintenance to stay valid.
Can I do any maintenance myself?
Changing your filter regularly is the most impactful thing you can do between professional visits. Beyond that, the internal components need licensed hands.
Do you service both central AC and ductless systems?
Yes. We maintain both types. Let us know what you have when you call.
